The Manager of Cloud Operations is a highly technical and leadership role responsible for overseeing the deployment, monitoring, and security of our suite of SaaS products in a multi-cloud landscape. This position interacts with cross-functional teams that include developers, security engineers, SREs, corporate IT, and product management groups. The role requires a strong understanding of cloud operations, infrastructure management, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

Key Performance Objectives

  1. Strategic Cloud Infrastructure & Operations Leadership: Within 90 days, assess the current CloudOps team structure and implement a team development and mentorship plan that increases engagement, ownership, and cross-functional collaboration. Within 6 months, increase team efficiency as measured by reduced incident resolution time and improved internal NPS (developer support feedback).
  2. Standardize and Scale Infrastructure: Within 90 days, evaluate current Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices and implement Terraform-based templates that standardize infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments. Supervise at least 3 production-ready environments using standardized VPC/VNet configurations within the first 6 months.
  3. Improve System Reliability and Observability: Design and implement full observability dashboards using logs and metrics within 60 days to monitor service health. Achieve 99.9% uptime SLA by the end of the first year through proactive alerting, redundancy planning, and incident response improvements.
  4. Optimize CI/CD Pipelines: Within 4 months, partner with development teams to map out product value chains and identify optimization opportunities by streamlining Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and automating approvals where possible.
  5. Enhance Cloud Security Posture: Complete an audit of current access management, SAML/OIDC integrations, and identity federation setups within the first 90 days. Ensure compliance with applicable cloud security frameworks within 6 months (i.e. CIS, SOC, etc.).
  6. Enable Cost-Efficient Operations: Conduct a cost analysis across cloud infrastructure within the first 90 days and deliver a plan that identifies cost saving opportunities within 6 months via rightsizing, reserved instances, and automation.
  7. Deliver Developer and Production Support Excellence: Establish SLAs for internal developer support and external production issues within 30 days. Ensure 90%+ of support tickets are resolved within SLA for both internal and external users within the first 6 months.
  8. Drive Strategic Roadmap Execution: Within the first 6 months, partner with cross-functional leaders to define and begin execution of a 12-month CloudOps strategic roadmap aligned with business goals (e.g., support for new product lines, MLOps readiness, or AI-driven ops automation).
