This role offers the chance to set technical direction for PowerPlan's mission-critical tax, accounting, and workflow platform, not just build within it. You'll move fluidly between hands-on development across .NET, and Azure and higher-altitude architecture conversations with SMEs and leadership, becoming a trusted technical authority across more than one domain of the platform.

Beyond your own delivery, you'll build a deliberate mentoring practice that raises the skill level of the developers around you, reducing the team's reliance on any single person for its hardest problems. • Embed with architects and SMEs to master the current .NET, and Azure architecture, workflows, and data flows, and proactively flag at least one real architectural or scalability risk in an existing design.
• Lead design and architecture reviews for real features or system areas, presenting scalable approaches across .NET, and Azure and getting SMEs and leadership aligned behind them.
• Design, build, and maintain production-ready features across .NET/C# applying strong scalability and maintainability discipline.
• Use code review, testing, and performance diagnostics to catch issues before they reach production, and sustain a low defect escape rate.
• Build a consistent mentoring presence through regular pairing and substantive code review, raising the team's overall skill level so hard problems stop depending on any one person.
• Deliberately take on hard technical questions currently routed to a single existing senior engineer, spreading that dependency across more than one person.
• Surface technical risks and blockers as soon as you spot them, and engage in direct, reasoned technical debate rather than defaulting to consensus — while still driving every disagreement to a clear decision.

• Deep expertise in modern .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core), async/await patterns, performance optimization, and API design.
• Hands-on experience designing relational schemas and optimizing SQL queries in an Azure SQL or SQL Server environment.
• Experience operating cloud-hosted systems on Azure, with a working understanding of scalability, resiliency, and cost/performance tradeoffs.
• A demonstrated ability to lead architecture or design discussions and get SMEs and leadership aligned behind a technical direction, across more than one domain.
• A track record of mentoring other developers through pairing and substantive code review.
• A willingness to surface risks and blockers early and engage in direct technical debate, while still driving disagreement to a clear decision.

Preferred

• Experience mentoring developers formally, such as through a structured onboarding or leveling program.
• Prior experience owning technical direction across more than two domains of a large platform.
• Familiarity with regulated or compliance-driven financial software environments.
